Across the Festival
Ladies of the Press*
Ladies of the Press* are Ana ?avi? and Renée O’Drobinak: a performative press duo that re-imagines the role of the publisher into a theatrical persona.
Mincing together print and performance in impromptu settings, they’ll be pitching up their travelling micro-newsroom across the festival, and responding to the evening’s proceedings in their various guises. For their traveling piece, Live Press, they will be collecting interviews, doodles, photographs and found pieces, working with artists and audiences to compile a souvenir gazette. These interpretive zines will be free to takeaway for those attending, and downloadable from this page after the event for those who can’t.
Where to catch them:
Man/Machine at RichMix, April 19th – presenting a film piece of their work exploring performance text and technology in performance publishing.
The Goodbye Library at The Nave, April 27th – working with guest curators Emmy The Great & Jack Underwood as ‘librarians in residence’ to produce a bespoke library zine. A compendium of texts & passages chosen by the artists from books donated by the audience, and other pieces unearthed by the librarians over the course of the evening.
Be Seeing You at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, May 5th – the final festival shindig! The Ladies* will be bringing their character personas to The Village, gathering ‘information’ from the audience to produce their very own take on The Prisoner’s The Tally-Ho newspaper.
